SWE-Kansas City (I03) was chartered in April 1982.
WEKC (Women Engineers of Kansas City) was the predecessor.

The SWE National Convention and Student Conference was hosted by SWE-KC in 1987.
The Region i Conference was hosted by SWE-KC in October 1993 and in February 2015.
The SWE National Conference was held in Kansas City during 11-14 October 2006.
